Seemingly out of nowhere, though it is very EXPECTED, Santa Monica Studios announced that a patch for the #PS5 will be available today, February 2 adding an "Enhanced Performance Mode" which pushes God of War to run at 4k checkerboard resolution or 2160p but most importantly at 60fps.

It is notable that God of War 2018 without the upcoming update runs on the PS5 via backward compatibility mode with 2 graphical options(Performance and resolution) these modes let you choose between 4k and 60fps. There was also a workaround for disc versions, that allows you to play it at 4k 60fps but the catch is the game version has to stay at 1.00.
With the upcoming update, we can finally Boiiiii! all we want at Glorious 4k checkerboard resolution (again, 2160p) and rip a Draugr in half at buttery smooth 60fps. Additionally, if you want to experience God of War in its original PS4 glory, you can with the "Original Performance Experience" which offers 4k checkerboard resolution but drops the framerate to 30fps
Safe to say we'll be playing God of War 2018 for the nth time. Here's to hoping other PlayStation Exclusive Games follow the next-gen update scheme. (Horizon Zero Dawn or Death Stranding anyone?)
