Konami has opened a floodgate of upcoming media that they hope will revive the Silent Hill franchise. This includes a remake, spinoff games, a film, and an interactive series! All of these are announced during the Silent Hill Transmission held last October 19, PT (October 20, PST).
New and old fans alike of the Silent Hill franchise shall look forward to the ground-up remake of Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is being developed by the Bloober Team which has created Layers of Fear, Observer, The Blair Witch, and The Medium. They are closely collaborating with the original Team Silent creature designer Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka.
Silent Hill 2 follows the journey of James Sunderland through the monster-filled town of Silent Hill as he searches for his deceased wife.
This remake is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for one year but it will also be available on PC. No release date was mentioned during the stream.

The beautiful yet haunting trailer shows a Japanese student trying to escape the town slowly being engulfed by hostile flora.
Silent Hill: Townfall is a new spinoff being developed by No Code Studios and publisher Annapurna Interactive. There is very little information told in the event but it looks to be a unique take on the Silent Hill franchise.
The franchise is also making a comeback to the big screen with the Return to Silent Hill. This live-action movie will be directed by Christopher Gans who also directed the first Silent Hill film (2006).
Return to Silent Hill is based on Silent Hill 2. The accompanying storyboard artworks seem to suggest that it will be a faithful adaptation of the story. It is still in early development.
Silent Hill Ascension is an upcoming live real-time interactive series. Audience participation and decision can affect the progression of the story. It is being developed by Bad Robot Productions, Behavior Interactive, Genvid Technologies, and DJ2 Entertainment.
