PlayStation State of Play, #PlayAtHome Initiative, and Next-Gen VR for the PS5!
Tons of PlayStation-related news was dropped last night ahead of the PlayStation State of Play scheduled for Thursday, Friday, February 26, 2021. 6:00am here in the Philippines

First up, it's that time again, Time for the State of Play! We can expect updates on developments and deep dives for 10 PS4 and PS5 games releasing 2021 and onwards. The show clocks in at about 30 mins as stated on the [PlayStation Blog], with the Live update focusing on games releasing on the horizon, we can expect announcements for new games and updates on games like Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West, Returnal, Deathloop and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Tune in to PlayStation's Twitch and YouTube for the full showcase.

Speaking of Ratchet and Clank, the Play at Home Initiative returns on March 1, 2021, with one of 2016's best game, Ratchet and Clank as its offering. The initiative was first offered last year as a way for PlayStation to help the community cope with the quarantine and the pandemic, they offered two of its best games for free: *Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and Journey. This year, there will be a much better and extended offering. Starting March 1, 2021, everyone with PS4 and PS5 consoles will be able to download Insomniac's 2016 game, Ratchet and Clank, revisit the origin stories of these beloved PlayStation heroes and features a great mix of outrageous combat and comedy. The offering is FREE to download through the PlayStation Store until April 1, 2021. Just like last year, once you redeem the game, it will be yours to keep.

Also, starting on March 25, 2021, Funimation or Wakanim in some countries will be offering an extended access for new subscribers in the countries they are available**. Funimation is an anime-focused subscription service and Wakanim is Funimation’s European division. While there will be additional details to follow, this offer is only available to our community who sign up for and download the Funimation (in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand) or Wakanim apps (in most of Western and Northern Europe) starting on March 25 for a limited time.
As per the Play At Home [PlayStation Blog], this is only the beginning of what's in store for the #PlayAtHome initiative for this year so we can expect them to share more details on free games and entertainment offers for the PlayStation Community soon.

Lastly, the First details for the Next-generation VR for the PS5 is officially announced via [PlayStation Blog].  This is one of the features missing to truly complete the ultimate immersive experience offered by the PS5. The enhancements for the Next-Gen VR include enhanced resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It will have a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience. PlayStation is also excited to share innovations for the new VR Controller which will have DualSense-like features and great ergonomics (haptic feedback for VR Controller? Count us in!). Unfortunately, it won't be releasing this year but we can sure to expect more news from PlayStation in the coming months.

*Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection was provided to PlayStation users in regions except for Germany and China. Users in Germany and China received free access to Knack 2.

** FUNIMATION and WAKANIM – On top of the standard 14-day trial, new users can get an additional 90 days . Unless you cancel your subscription before the end of the period, your subscription will automatically roll into a paid-for, ongoing subscription with a recurring monthly fee. Age restrictions apply.
