Are you ready for 2022? You might need to buckle up because this year is stacked with heavy-hitters that might change the gaming history! Just looked at February especially! It looks like it's going to be a hectic rid as most-awaited games and movies (*shouts from the back* UNCHARTED: the movie!) are squeezed in that window.
Before we move on to the list, please keep in mind that the released dates mentioned in this article are tentative. The world is still being impacted by the pandemic. And we already saw multiple delay announcements beforehand because of it. So who’s to say that we won't experience some hiccups this year? (Wow, that’s dark). While we're waiting, we can chill and play the existing games in our library.

Let’s start off with the big boy - Elden Ring by FromSoftware was announced in E3 2019. It was originally planned for January 21, 2022, but got delayed to February 25, 2022. You can only imagine how long the Souls-like fans have been waiting for this. In fact, it was The Game Awads’ Most Anticipated game twice in a row! Thankfully, the wait is not too far now. Pre-order for Elden Ring (PS4 | PS5) is ongoing!

Initially slated to be released in the late 2021 window, Horizon Forbidden West by Guerilla games got pushed to February 18, 2022, due to difficulties posed by the pandemic. However, it seems that they really took the time to work on the project. The story and gameplay teasers that have been released so far showed how beautifully crafted the environment is. Given that Horizon Zero Dawn is already breath-taking, expect nothing less from Horizon Forbidden West. Reserve your copy now.

Formerly known as Project Athia, Forspoken by Square Enix has been creating a buzz for a while now. Frey - the main character - got magically transported to a strange land called Athia. The premise is familiar when you watch anime, particularly Isekai where the main character gets sucked (unwillingly most of the time) into a fantasy world. Another thing that excites players is the combat - it's giving off Infamous Second Son vibes!
But we’ll have to see how Forspoken will differentiate itself from the sea of action RPGs.

Are we calm and reasonable persons? Because we badly need to possess those characteristics as we wait for more information on God of War: Ragnarok - the direct sequel to God of War. This will be the last entry in the saga. Yes, you read that right. Cory Barlog - God of war director - said that there will be no trilogy for this series. That leaves us with heaps of questions but the main one would be: how will Kratos and Atreus’ journey end?

When Bethesda Managing Director, Ashley Cheng said “Starfield is the Han Solo simulator. Get in a ship, explore the galaxy, do fun stuff.” wouldn’t you get hyped?
According to Todd Howard, game director, that players will join an organization called Constellation - the last group of space explorers. And in the beginning, players will choose their character’s background which will impact how the story will unfold. So if you’re one of the many players who thought to themselves: “Man, I wish I could play Skyrim in space”, then, Starfield might just be the answer to your prayers.
After multiple delays, we thought Dying Light 2 Stay Human wouldn’t see the light of day! It was supposed to be released in 2019 but it got delayed in January 2020. Then, it was pushed back to the late 2021 window but once again to February 2022.
Despite all the delays, the Dying Light Sequel looks promising. In this game, your game choices matter because it affects the story and the environment. Plus, this time around, the undead is not the only problem you will need to take care of. There are different factions that you can either befriend or fight depending on what you would like to accomplish. Another significant improvement is you can use devices such as pulleys that will zip you to the rooftop, a swinging hook, and a glider.

Ever since Hogwarts Legacy was announced through a trailer last September 2020, there were barely any updates on the progress of the game. The most recent post to date is a tweet letting everyone know that it won’t be available until 2022. Now that we’re in the year that they mentioned, let’s all pray for any kind of information regarding the game’s development. Potterheads just want to experience being wizards!

Dead Space was a critically acclaimed survival horror game that spawned 2 sequels. After 13 years, Electronic Arts announced that this wonderful game will be remade so players can experience it once again in next-gen consoles. The game developer - Motive Studio - briefly discussed improving the visuals, traversal, and overall game mechanics in a live stream. The only questions now are when are we going back to USG Ishimura and are we ready for it?

Who doesn’t envy cats’ lives? They sleep for almost 20 hours every day and only wake up to eat, perform bathroom duties, and demand pets. With Annapurna’s upcoming game, we might be able to experience living as a cat. Or at least that’s the idea…since Stray does not portray itself as a simple simulation game. It requires solving puzzles and escaping or fighting against unfriendly creatures as we navigate through the mysterious and seemingly forgotten city.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a spin-off from the Borderlands series. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Assault on Dragon Keep was a DLC but due to popular demand, it’s on its way to being a full-fledged game! And true to Borderlands fashion, the game looks just as over the top with chaotic battles and annoying characters. It’s still a looter-shooter but with D&D-like twists mixed in what with the spellcasting, navigating the overworld, and triggering combat sequences by just wandering through tall grasses! It absolutely looks fun!
